This qualification has been designed to support an individual's entry into the teaching/training industry, and is aimed specifically at those wishing to be employed in the outdoor learning sector. The qualification itself has been developed to meet the national Minimum Core Standards for Teacher Training Qualifications for the Further Education and Skills Sector and to enable the teaching of numeracy to be studied. ITC is well-placed in the outdoor learning sector and envisages that this qualification will enable successful candidates to take the delivery of numeracy into the outdoors.

Learners will gain skills and/or knowledge in:

roles and responsibilities,
legislation,
pedagogical principles,
theories, principles and models of teaching.
learning,
communication,
assessment,
specialist topics in numeracy are also covered.
plan and deliver sessions to groups of learners,
plan a scheme of work,
study numeracy and its teaching techniques to level 5,
develop their professional practice to a high level

How is this Qualification Assessed?

This qualification is assessed by the completion of a portfolio of evidence and practical observation by an expert assessor.

Plus additional self-guided study time

Qualification Number - 610/3159/8 Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) Link

To undertake this qualification, delivery of a minimum of 100 hours of teaching practice is required, with observation of some of these sessions. Access to groups of learners and real-life teaching practice is therefore required.
